SYNOPSIS
In this poignant Danish tale, hapless plumber Keld (Bjarne Henriksen) finds his world crumbling when his wife of 25 years (Charlotte Fich) walks out on him. The dejected Keld soon falls into a routine of eating at the neighborhood Chinese grill, where he befriends the owner -- who offers Keld a sizable sum to wed the restaurateur's sister (Vivian Wu) in a marriage of convenience. Will love bloom despite the language barrier and clash of cultures?

Some reviewer comments:

"the film is so well-made, so full of heart and life, that it can be recommended almost without reservations to those who appreciate foreign cultures "

"This is a small gem of a movie. Almost perfection-- with great acting and script."

"What a lovely movie and nice story!"

    •  I liked the movie. Unfortunately, the wine makes me less alert and I didn't have such a great seat. Suggestion: maybe you can do wine during a break rather than before the movie. Nestor, there's some problem here with the people that attend your meetup reminiscent of the past. I mean - they are intent on brainwashing me into values I don't agree with - and frankly, they don't know me. The "beautiful" one is the evil girl and the "good" woman is the "giving" one. I have my own point-of-view; I don't agree with that - i.e. they are into putting me down and labeling me because they're jealous of the way I look. I think it sounds a bit like that other movie you showed (the Italian one) where people made up lies about a young woman because she was so strikingly beautiful. Anyway, I don't think the movie was about a guy falling for a woman who was "giving..." I think he fell for the Chinese woman because she was beautiful. Culturally, she was less abrasive, kinder than his wife.
    •  A lovely film, with similiar elements as Cherry Blossom (a really wonderful film), but a different story. Thank you Nestor.
    •  I really enjoyed the film. When I laugh and cry during the same movie, it's a good thing. Thank you, Nestor.
    •  The subtlety of the film reminded me the films of kieslowski. Also, I found a thematic resemblance with The Visitor, the 2008 film about illegal immigrants in New York. Overall, a very nice film.
    •  What a fascinating group! I'm grateful to have the chance to share my interests in foreign film with so many intelligent, friendly people at once.
    •  Our Organizer selected a wonderful film. It was funny and heartwarming. Heard lots of laughter in the audience. The venue, the Iguana Bar & Grill, is a nice place. The ONE DRINK is so large and strong, you don't need a second! Thank you Nestor!
    •  Another fine film presented by Nestor, and enjoyable socializing with friends old and new.
    •  This is fast becoming one of my favorite meetup groups. I, once again, enjoyed the movie presented ("Kinamand" is a film that I would never have heard of otherwise) and watching it with others that have similar tastes in film.
    •  I loved this film and met some really nice people. Thanks Nestor!
